Multi-Tenant HR Management Platform for US SMEs

Legacy spreadsheet‑driven HR operations led to data inconsistency and limited visibility, multi‑tenant architecture required strict data isolation across organizations, payroll and compliance workflows involved complex conditional logic across US states, system needed to remain performant under concurrent access from multiple companies, onboarding timelines were tight with evolving feature requirements

A schema‑based multi‑tenancy model was implemented in PostgreSQL to ensure strong data isolation while maintaining operational efficiency. Backend services were structured using Django with modular domain boundaries to support evolving business rules without regression risk. Redis caching was introduced for high‑frequency queries such as employee lookups and payroll summaries to reduce database load. Asynchronous task processing with Celery handled payroll calculations and report generation to prevent blocking operations. The architecture prioritized horizontal scalability and clear separation between tenant‑specific and shared services to ensure long‑term maintainability.
